Happy Fertility Friday!
And welcome to this year-long series on inviting more compassion into your life.
After the first of the year, I perused back at my 2019 bullet journal and noticed several unmarked checks next to some important goals. Lo’ and behold, I started judging myself about it, and I realized “Holy cow! I need to dive deeper into self compassion!”
Compassion became a personal goal to focus on in 2020, but then I realized what a state our world is in. I mean, there’s a pretty big lack of compassion in the world, wouldn’t you say? So, instead of keeping increased compassion a personal goal, I am inviting you along the journey as well.
Each week I will go over a new quote as indicated in the book A Year of Living with More Compassion, and I will produce a vlog for you, so you can practice along with me.
This is the second week of the series. You can find the rest of the series below:
The quote this week is by Carl Rogers:
“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”
Here is the practice for this week: 1) Think about something that annoys you about yourself. 2) Get in touch with the feelings that arise when you judge yourself. 3) Put your hands on your heart and say “May I be kind to myself. May I accept myself as I am.” 4) Ask yourself what a close friend or loved one would say to you about how terrible you feel. and 5) Repeat #3.
Hoping you feel more peaceful and more self-compassionate after this week’s exercise. I’ll see you next week!
Be well,
-M
