Today’s episode was inspired by the above quote from Mahatma Ghandi.  I’ve been in a slowing down process over the last few weeks, as I cleared some space from work and began living my personal life a bit more.  And as I slowed down physically, I realized how much my thoughts continued to fly around up in my head.  For the last several years, I’ve been in a whirlwind of action.  Working, parenting, spousing, working, homemaking, working…  I had begun to feel overwhelmed and even my regular meditation practice was barely taking the edge off the speed at which I was moving through life.

Monkey mind is typically always there, but it is certainly pronounced when we pause long enough in our lives to notice the wild monkey thoughts swinging from branch to branch in the trees of our minds.

Here is what is covered in today’s episode:

  • What is Monkey Mind?  Where did the term come from?
  • How do I know that I have monkey mind?
  • Why does monkey mind happen?
  • Why attempt to quiet the monkeys?
  • Okay now that I know I have it and I want to change it, what do I do?
